I am now singing Hank Willimas Jr. in my head.

(I blame the fact that we lived in Louisiana for 4 years)

Anyway…

We have a tradition around here.

It starts in August-ish… with picking out a {kid-friendly} theme.

And planning costumes.

Oh, and a “drink of the night.”

The month before, we shop.

Decorations, costume pieces, and a stock pile of beer and juice boxes sit in our laundry room.

The week before, we make goody bags for the kids and plan some crafts.

The day before is a flurry of yardwork, house work, and hanging up party lights.

And the day of?

100 jello shots.

Chicken wings.

Cupcakes.

It’s a day in the kitchen, but it’s worth it.

Because the event?

The annual event?

I’ll just show you.

5th Annual Halloween Party: Favorite Childhood Cartoon Theme

Elroy Jetson and Blueberry Muffin

Boris and Natasha (from Rocky and Bullwinkle) and their cuties

Batman, Strawberry Shortcake, And Dora

Fred and Wilma

Linus, Charlie Brown, and Lucy

Cindy-Lou Hoo and The Grinch

Where’s Waldo and Wilma

The kids played foosball, football, and video games..

The adults played cornhole, and some practical jokes…

And all the ghosts and goblins in the world couldn’t stop the memories from being made…

So, whatcha’ doing next year for Halloween?

have always been a real close family
but lately some of my kin folks
have disowned a few others and me
    i guess its because
    i kinda changed my direction
i guess i went and broke the family tradition

they get on me wanna know Hank
    why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
    over and over
    everybody made my prediction
    so if i get stoned
    I’m just carryin’
    on an old family tradition

I am going to be singing that ALL NIGHT LONG now…thank you very much…

GREAT costumes! But I’m sad to admit…I don’t think I know who Blueberry Muffin is. Was she Strawberry Shortcake’s sister? :)
