Ingredients for Star Wars BB-8 Snack Quesadillas
– 2 soft taco size flour tortillas
– 2oz softened cream cheese
– 2 cheddar cheese slices
– 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
– paring knife
BB-8 Quesadilla Instructions
– Turn the bag right side out and push the cream cheese into one corner of the bag.
– Using a sharp knife or scissors, cut the corner of the bag off so you have a small hole to pipe the cream cheese. You can always make it bigger–start small!
For BB-8’s body:
– Place one cheese slice on a cutting board. Turn your wine glass upside down and use it to cut a circle in the center of the slice.
– Take the solid circle of cheese and freehand cut another small circle in the center–I used a paring knife. It should look like a cheese donut when you’re finished.
BB-8 Snack Quesadillas
Ingredients
Ingredients for Star Wars BB-8 Snack Quesadillas
- 2 tortillas soft taco size flour
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 2 slices cheese
- 1 cup cheese shredded Mexican blend
- 1 oz food coloring black
Instructions
BB-8 Quesadilla Instructions
- - In a small bowl, mix room temperature cream cheese with a bit of black food coloring until it turns a silver/gray color.
- - Turn a Ziplock bag inside out over your hand, and scoop the silver cream cheese. Reserve a small amount in the bowl for later.
- - Turn the bag right side out and push the cream cheese into one corner of the bag.
- - Using a sharp knife or scissors, cut the corner of the bag off so you have a small hole to pipe the cream cheese. You can always make it bigger–start small!
- - Add more black food coloring to the gray cream cheese that you set aside–enough that you get a jet black color.
For BB-8’s body:
- - Place one cheese slice on a cutting board. Turn your wine glass upside down and use it to cut a circle in the center of the slice.
- - Take the solid circle of cheese and freehand cut another small circle in the center–I used a paring knife. It should look like a cheese donut when you're finished.
- - Cut four concentric sections from the inside hole, leaving four small interior "spokes." This will form the center mechanism of BB-8's body.
- - Take the other slice of cheese and using the same technique as in the first step, cut another circle out of the slice.
- - Take the second solid circle of cheese and cut it into four equal pieces–it should look like you have four pieces of cheese pie.
- - Cut the rounded edge of each piece to create four equal quarter rounds, about the same thickness of your center mechanism piece. These will form the four side pieces of BB-8's body.
For BB-8’s head:
- - Take the rest of one cheese slice and cut a section from for BB-8's head stripe (look at the picture above for help). This should be about a quarter inch in width.
- - From the extra cheese, cut several squares and rectangles of different sizes to attach as decorative pieces along the bottom grey head stripe.
- - Cut the second flour tortilla in half.
- - Using your knife, cut the corners of the tortilla to round them up a bit.
- - Cut one of the scrap pieces of tortilla to form the small antenna for the top of BB-8's head.
BB-8 Assembly:
- - Place BB-8's round quesadilla body on a microwave safe plate, and sprinkle with 2/3 of the Mexican cheese blend.
- - Place the identically sized tortilla onto the one you just added the cheese to.
- - Microwave the quesadilla for one minute.
- - Repeat this process with BB-8's tortilla head. You should now have two cheese quesadillas.
- - Decorate BB-8 with all of the cheese pieces you cut out and pipe silver grey cream cheese in areas shown in the picture.
- - Using the tip of your knife, place a small dab of black cream cheese on BB-8's head and an even smaller dab below and to the right of it as shown.
- - Pipe a silver rim around the smaller dot of black cream cheese.
- - Place BB-8's head on his body and top with the tortilla antenna piece.
