Why choose low carb or keto recipes?

There are a lot of reasons to choose low carb dishes. Many people use keto diets or low carb diets to lose weight. Others eat less carbohydrates to control or improve serious diseases.

Some of the conditions that can be helped by eating less carbohydrates are high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and more. This article on subject of low carb diets by the Mayo Clinic is a great breakdown of why limiting carbohydrates can be so beneficial!

Can low carb diets help reduce cravings?

Healthline cites a reduced appetite as a benefit of eating less carbs in this article. Even if that was the only benefit it would be a great one! Reduced insulin and blood sugar levels are another benefit. If you can control your appetite you can help control your blood sugar levels as well.

What constitutes low carb?

We have to know what counts as “low carb” right or else everything could be low carb in some form or another! Typically speaking low carb diets allow between 20 and 60 grams of total carbs per day. For each person that number can vary depending on activity level, goals, and dietary needs.

That amount of carbs should amount to between 80 and 240 calories per day from you total calories. If you are trying to go into ketosis then you need to shoot for less than 50 grams of carbs per day!

What is the difference between low carb and keto?

Low carb and keto are a bit different. There’s not set program for low carb, it’s just limiting carbs and swapping out ingredients for their lower carb alternatives. If you are doing a keto diet there is a more strict intake of carbs because your body needs certain levels of fat and carbs to enter ketosis, the goal of a “keto” diet.

The main difference between low carb and keto diets is how you approach them! You can do either one, both, or neither…it’s up to you!

This design is wicked! You obviously know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool.
