Recipe Tips
- This recipe freezes great! For quick meals I suggest freezing in small batches. We like to use silicone soup trays that allows you to freeze the soup in one cup portions.
- This bone broth recipe is gluten free. However, if you are beefing up this recipe using a whole chicken from the store, not all of the rotisserie chickens are will be gluten free. Be sure to read the labels or ask employees at the store.
- You are wondering why you can’t just use regular chicken broth for this recipe? Bone broth gives so much more flavor and holds more nutrition benefits than regular broth. It’s worth the extra step in making bone broth.
- Making chicken bone broth might feel hard the first time you try to make it. After time, making homemade bone broth becomes simple and is part of your soup routine. Trust the process and give it a try!
- For easy storage, pour your homemade bone broth into wide-mouth mason jars (one jar will hold two servings of soup) which will keep for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
- I love these wide mouth funnels for mess-free pouring of this delicious soup.
- You can add noodles or leftover shredded chicken or rotisserie chicken to this bone broth recipe to bulk it up a bit. I would add cooked chicken and/or noodles, during the last part of the cooking process for Crockpot prep, or after the natural release is done on the Instant Pot prep! We do not recommend adding raw chicken breast to this recipe. This makes for an easy and delicious chicken soup recipe.
- If we are looking for a heartier bone broth soup, we add either cooked rice, egg noodles, or rice noodles to the broth.
- You could also change out vegetables that you may have on hand. Garlic, carrots, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, green beans, etc. Be sure to adjust your points or container counts if you make any changes to the original recipe.

This is a great recipe for 2B Mindset, as it is mainly vegetables. There is some protein in this recipe as well, but you can add chicken to it if you’d like to bump up your protein. If you’re making this for lunch you could add some whole wheat noodles if you like. See notes in recipe tips for these add-ins.
