I love making this healthy homemade dairy free ranch dressing mix. It contains no emulsifiers, powdered milk, or buttermilk powder like the store bought dry ranch seasoning.
This vegan ranch seasoning a delicious and easy way to make ranch dip and salad dressing, or you can use it to add ranch flavor to your favorite recipes. Not only is it healthier than store bought ranch seasoning mix, but it’s so much less expensive to make your own!

Ingredients in Dairy Free Ranch Seasoning:
You likely have all of the spices for this homemade ranch seasoning mix in your pantry right now! No tried to the grocery store is needed.
You can use fresh dill and parsley, but you would need to store your mix in the fridge and you would need to consume it within 1-2 weeks–in this case, dried herbs are best.
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Black Pepper
- Dried Parsley
- Dried Dill
How to make Homemade Powdered Ranch Seasoning:
- In an airtight container combine garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, dried parsley, and dried dill.
- Stir to combine.
- Store in a cool dry location for up to 3 months.
To make Dairy Free Ranch Dip:
- Follow the instructions above
- Add 1 tablespoon of the dry mix to 16 ounces of dairy free yogurt–I prefer almond but coconut based yogurt works too! You’ll want to use unflavored yogurt.
- Mix well and do a quick taste test. If you’d like more ranch seasoning, go ahead and add another tablespoon.
Dairy Free Ranch Recipe Tips:
- One tablespoon is the equivalent to one ranch seasoning packet.
- The most popular ranch packet is of course Hidden Valley Original Ranch. This recipe isn’t going to taste the exact same since we aren’t including the sugar, salt, and artificial sweeteners. This isn’t a copycat recipe–this is a healthier version of the recipe.
- For dressing you will need to add 1/2 cup milk of choice (I use unsweetened plain almond milk) and 1 cup of dairy free yogurt or sour cream.
- This healthy, homemade powdered ranch dressing mix is gluten free.
