Sometimes you want a refreshing drink without alcohol–that’s where a mocktail comes in. It’s like a cocktail, but without alcohol!

This delicious Margarita Mocktail is easy to make, it’s light and refreshing–perfect for sipping by the pool or at Happy Hour. It’s also sugar-free! I used SweetLeaf Stevia Water Drops to flavor this mocktail.

It doesn’t matter why you’re choosing the non alcoholic cocktail (mocktail) margarita recipe over the cocktail–you can still enjoy a refreshing, sugar-free treat. We love swapping out mocktails to enjoy during the week. We find that we are more focused and sleep better without drinking alcohol.

This margarita mocktail recipe is easily adaptable. You can dress it up, or dress it down depending on the occasion. For a fancier mocktail, i’ve added jalapeños, cilantro, extra lime, flowers to decorate during a baby shower or other get together.

I love pulling out all of my flavored Water Drops to allow guests to choose flavors for themselves. My personal favorite, though, is the Lemon Lime. You need to make this delicious skinny margarita. It’s incredibly flavorful with freshly squeezed lime and SweetLeaf Stevia Water Drops.

Ingredients for this Sugar Free Margarita Mocktail

  • Sparkling or Still water: We prefer making our sugar free margaritas with sparkling water. The bubbles add just a touch of flare for our virgin margarita. If you don’t enjoy sparkling water, feel free to use still water when you make this recipe.
  • Lime: A margarita mocktail must have fresh lime juice. This recipe calls for fresh lime juice, and we like to have a fresh lime wedge or lime wedges around to garnish this mocktail. If you don’t have fresh lime juice on hand, you are welcome to use lime juice purchased at the store.
  • Ice: When I add ice to our sugar free margs, I prefer using smaller ice cubes. You are welcome to use whatever size ice cubes you have in your freezer.
  • SweetLeaf Stevia Water Drops: (I used Lemon-Lime, but there are several flavors that you could use!)
  • Salt: We use large flaked salt for a delicious salted rim. You are also welcome to use regular table salt, or omit. This step is totally optional.
  • Additional ingredient ideas: jalapeños, herbs (I like adding mint leaves), flowers, extra lime or lemon.

How to make a Sugar Free Margarita

  1. Go over the top rim of the margarita glass with a lime wedge. Once wet from the lime, rim the glass with salt.
  2. Add ice to the margarita glass to your liking.
  3. Squeeze a lime over the ice cubes.
  4. Add SweetLeaf Stevia Water Drops, 2-3 drops should be perfect.
  5. Add Sparkling or Still water to fill the margarita glass.
  6. Enjoy your margarita! These are best enjoyed immediately.

Recipe Tips

  • We love using lime juice from the lime wedges to rim the glass with salt. If you want to omit salt and lime around the glass, the drink will still be delicious. Also note, if you love the flavor of lime juice, feel free to increase the amount of lime juice in the recipe.
  • If you are making more than one drink, we recommend making a double or triple batch in a cocktail shaker and pouring it into the individual margarita glasses. This’ll save you in the total time it takes to prepare and serve your margarita mocktails served to friends and family.
  • You’ll love this recipe. We created this recipe because it doesn’t contain all the sugar found in margarita mix or simple syrup. The typical margarita mix or simple syrup cocktail is loaded with extra sugar. This drink is perfectly sweetened with the SweetLeaf Stevia Water Drops.
  • There are so many different flavors of the liquid stevia water drops. You really could modify this drink to have a variety of flavors found in a classic cocktail or margarita. We love the lemon lime water drops, they have the delicious flavor of lime juice without the tartness.
  • There is an unwritten rule somewhere that states that mocktails and cocktails taste better when served in the correct dish. We recommend serving our margarita recipe in stemless margarita glasses. We prefer margarita glasses that are stemless for when we serve margaritas outside. We’ve broken a few to many stemmed margarita glasses before.
  • You’ll want to make this recipe yours. Next time, modify the garnishes or add additional ingredients to the recipe. Please note that our nutritional information is per serving for the original recipe with no added sugar or alcohol.
