Peanut butter and chocolate are quite possibly the two cases that go together best in the world. Reese’s sure got it right when they created peanut butter cups! Here’s a delicious chocolate peanut butter cup cupcake recipe that’ll wow your guests… if you leave any for them to try!
Ingredients for chocolate cake
1/4C unsalted butter, left at room temperature
1C sugar
1C chocolate chips
2 eggs, left at room temperature
2 egg yolks, left at room temperature
1/2C oil of your choice
2t vanilla extract
1/3C sour cream
1C flour
1/2t salt
1/2t baking soda
1/2C cocoa powder
1/2C water, room temperature
15-20 small (size of a quarter) peanut butter cups
Directions for chocolate cake
1. Mix the butter and sugar together (medium speed) until light and fluffy.
2. Melt the peanut butter cups in the microwave.
3. Slowly add melted candy to the butter and sugar mixture, and stir until combined.
4. Add in the eggs and egg yolks one at a time, mix until combined.
5. Add in oil, vanilla, and sour cream. Continue to mix.
6. Sift flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa powder into a bowl.
7. Add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mix well.
8. Pour in the room temperature water and mix again.
9. Fill cupcake liners half full with cupcake batter.
10. Push one peanut butter cup into each liner full of cupcake batter.
11. Top of each cupcakes with a bit more cupcake batter so it’s 3/4 full.
12. Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes. Use a toothpick to poke into the side of a cupcake (so you don’t accidentally poke the peanut butter cup). If your toothpick comes out clean, the cupcakes are done.

3 sticks butter, room temperature
1C peanut butter
4C powdered sugar
2t vanilla
3T heavy whipping cream
Mini peanut butter cups to decorate the top, if you’d like.
Directions for peanut butter frosting
1. Add the butter and peanut butter to a bowl and mix on medium speed, until smooth.
2. Slowly add powdered sugar 1C at a time, mix well with the other ingredients.
3. Add the vanilla and cream, and mix on medium speed until it becomes light and fluffy.
4. Frost cupcakes.
5. Garnish with a mini peanut butter cup, if you’d like.
