Technology is here to stay. With a main goal of making all aspects of life easier and more efficient, technology now plays a huge role in our daily lives!
Sometimes technology can create new problems that are completely unintended–for example, let’s take a look at the chargers you need to keep those devices working…The cords get tangled and they create a mess, or maybe if you’re like me, your nightstand is far from an outlet so you need an extension cord just to charge your phone at night.
Of course the extension cord fixes your charging issues, but creates not only an eye sore but also a tripping hazard for the whole family. Our devices are doing a great job of curing some of our everyday problems, but we need to get creative in order to overcome the side effects.
This list of tech hacks will help keep your devices doing their job without creating a whole bunch of extra work for you.
Tech Hacks #1: Protect Your Charging Cable
Many iPhone users know what I mean when I say you have to protect that charger at all costs! Apple iPhones have a notorious problem; the end of the charging cable that connects to your device can sometimes bend and break causing it to not charge anymore.
Luckily there is a way to stop this–protect your charging cable by taking a spring from an old pen and wrapping it around the cord at the same end and now it won’t bend excessively to either side.
Tech Hacks #2: Sticky Note Cleaner
Dust has a habit of settling in between the keys of our laptops and trying to clean those hard to reach spots can be a pain. Instead of heading out to the store to find some costly air in a can, take the sticky side of a sticky note and use it to get in between your keys. The sticky strip will grab all that dust and dirt.
Tech Hacks #3: Powerful Nightstand
Take a power strip and attach adhesive velcro strips to the bottom of it and to then also to the inside of your nightstand drawer. Create a hole in the back of your nightstand if you need to so that you can plug in the power strip as well as plug in your devices and their charging cables!
This will make it so much easier to charge all your devices while at the same time hiding all those dangerous and messy cords.
Tech Hacks #4: LEGO Help
Just in case you haven’t already figured this out (on purpose or by accident) LEGO people’s hands are perfect for holding phone charging cords in place! They fit perfectly and they can allow you to guide your cords and keep them from falling off the side of your desk, night stand, or table.
To make these little people work for you simply glue a LEGO piece to the end or on top of your desk. Then you can attach a LEGO person of your choice to it and clip your charger cord into his/her hand.
Tech Hacks #5: Bulldog Clips
LEGOs not your thing? No worries. You can have a more grown up and polished look by using bulldog clips! The same concept can be achieved by clipping bulldog clips to the back of your desk. String any charging wires you need through them and they will hold them in place without any damage.
Tech Hacks #6: The Dreaded 2%
We aren’t always near a charger, but when we finally get to one we need to charge our iPhones fast! The best way to do this is through a seemingly hidden trick. You can get your phone charging much more quickly in one easy step. Put your phone into Airplane Mode, then charge. This gives your phone the ability to just focus on charging without any distractions which makes the process so much faster.
Tech Hacks #7: WiFi Password
We’ve all had guests at our home asking what the WiFi password is but we can’t always remember since we don’t personally have to use it all that often. Head to QR Code Maker and input your WiFi information. Print the QR Code and people can gain access to your WiFi without having to put in the password.
This is a really neat option and you can always just keep the QR code printout on your refrigerator, in your guest room, or in the office! You’ll always have access to the information and you never have to worry about giving out too much of your personal information to guests.
