Ingredients in Boba Margaritas

  • Tapioca Pearls: Tapioca is a starch extracted from the cassava plant. These little flour pearls are enclosed in a sugary syrup. These tapioca pearls turn this margarita into a bubble tea and also sweeten the margarita.
  • Tequila – 1800 Tequila Silver: You’ll use the part of the tequila to soak the tapioca pearls that’ll be at the base of this delicious boba margarita. The remaining portion of the tequila in the recipe will go into the blender to help give the margarita a little boozy boost.
  • Green Tea: Bonus! The green tea gives a little caffeine in the Boba margarita.
  • Water: You’ll use the water to make the batch of green tea.
  • Strawberries: Who doesn’t love the fresh strawberry flavor? We love the complex flavors of strawberry mixed with tea and tequila.
  • Margarita Mix Strawberry: Any margarita mix with strawberry is perfect. We tend to choose our margarita mix based on the nutrition calories and sugar content.
  • Guava Nectar: Guava nectar is made from the pulp of the guava fruit. It’s more readily available than guava juice.
  • Lime: Is it even a margarita if it doesn’t have a little squeeze of lime juice and garnished with a lime wedge?
  • Heavy Cream: (or Sweetened Condensed Milk)
  • Ice Cubes: Keeping it chilled is important, when blending the ice cubes with the remaining ingredients this’ll help.
  • Sea salt: For rimming the margarita glass.

Recipe Tips

  • This recipe includes green tea, which naturally contains small levels of caffeine. If you are looking for a decaffeinated version of this, there are many decaffeinated green teas available at grocery stores or online.
  • If you are looking for an alcohol free version, you could try using spirit-free (non-alcoholic) tequila in this recipe. Sometimes you are looking for a delicious bubbly drink that doesn’t contain alcohol.
