He’s Growing Up Fast {Tween/Teen Tuesday}

Welcome to Tween and Teen Tuesdays at OurCrazyBoys.com! I hope you’ll come share your posts about your not-so-little-but-not-so-big kids with me. We’re off to New York tomorrow! I’m packing and checking things off my mental checklist. Toothbrushes? Check. 5 shorts, 5 shirts, 5 underwear for each of the kids? Che… wait. Michael decides that this time, he’s going to pack himself. The last time his father did that he brought one tshirt on a week long California trip.  Ok. I…

Dear Moms of Boys,

 Somewhere along the line, your little boys will… um… grow up. They won’t ride dinosaurs at the park anymore. They won’t ask for pushes on the swings. They’ll ask for Frappuccinos from Starbucks and Ramen noodles and clothes from Tilly’s. They’ll build towers out of Axe and you will always buy them more because you’ll forget who has what and how much is left. They won’t decorate their rooms with cartoon characters and trucks anymore. They’ll decorate with sports teams and…

Pitbull-Concert

Concerts With Tweens. Not What You’d Think.

This summer, I have had the opportunity to take both of my boys to concerts – separately, because Michael wouldn’t be dragged into Demi Lovato and I wouldn’t let Jack anywhere near Pitbull. My observation? Concerts with tweens are tricky – Concerts attended as an adult are completely different than concerts attended as the adult. Jack and I saw Demi Lovato and Hot Chelle Rae. Hot Chelle What? I love those boys.   We were having a blast and then, the lead…

It Really *Does* Take A Village

We started out the day in tears. Tears, and we hadn’t even arrived at the tournament yet. I’m not going to win. I don’t want to wrestle today.  We talked about how not feeling confident can affect the way you wrestle, and how he was prepared because of the 2 hour a night, 5 night a week practices he has been attending for the past month. He is ready. After he weighs in, he is crying again. I don’t want to…

Thank you.

            I have had this little space among trillions of other websites for almost three years, and I can’t even believe it. I can’t believe that you still come read my posts, even as I have been branching out from the boys for a bit lately. I’m stunned that you have enough to say that you take time out of your day to leave a comment. I read each and every one and try to…

Why I Don’t Vlog

It seems like everyone (but me) is vlogging. Vlog = Video Blog I can’t do it. I can’t sit in front of a camera and talk and talk and talk… well, I probably could, but then I would have to edit the heck out of it until my double chin was gone, and I would erase all of the “ummmms.” Recently, the school district that I work in had a workshop for all of the special education staff. They make…

So Proud {What I Learned This Week}

What a weekend! Full of learning… I learned that when your little boy has been practicing 3-4 nights a week for 3 months straight, the culminating swim meet is a BIG DEAL. I learned that it is not possible to write the word breast on your 9 year-old’s arm without giggling to yourself. I learned that when watching your son swim in his first race of the weekend, it doesn’t matter whether he is coming in first (he wasn’t) or…

If You Were Coming Over...

If You Were Coming Over…

If you were coming over to my house for dinner tonight, you would probably: Be warned to step over a few toys that are scattered on the floor. Be served on paper plates. Be given directions to the beer fridge in the garage, the soda fridge out back, and offered whatever we’re mixing in the kitchen. Be served in plastic cups. I have a thing with drinking out of glasses. Be on the lookout for sticky chairs. Jack has spilled…

Crazy² = Airsoft

Michael’s birthday was last week, and he asked to have his party at the local airsoft course, Toxic Airsoft. Yes, An airsoft birthday party. I’m not a fan of my 11 year-old running through the desert wielding an airsoft gun, but the players wear face protection and there is a list of rules about a mile long. Airsoft has been popular within the past year or so – I don’t know what the pull is, but all the kids are…

Running Tips From A Non-Runner

Running Tips From A Non-Runner

Before I begin, let’s get something straight. I am not a runner. I do not run marathons, or half marathons, or even 5ks (anymore). I run short distances (1-2 miles) several times a week, and I have to push myself through it. I have been a non-runner for about two years now. I like the way I feel after a short run. I like that I can get outside, enjoy the scenery (while looking for snakes), and get a quick…

Iced-Caramel-Coffee-recipe

Cheap {and oh-so-yummy} Iced Caramel Coffee

As some of you know, I recently switched schools and now work where the boys go. Moving was a hard decision, and my pro/con list looked something like this: Pros 4 minute drive to work Be on the same campus as my boys Have lunch with Michael on work days My classroom would be bigger Cons Nowhere to stop for coffee on the drive to work — Yup. That was the only con. Just kidding. (I was super sad to…
