My 13 Favorite Moments of 2013

My dear friend Courtney posted her 13 favorite moments of 2013 and it was perfectly timed. I wanted to round up my amazing year, but didn’t want to just share my favorite or most popular 13 posts. 2013 was an amazing year and though I didn’t blog about it all, I want to share it with you!

13 Favorite Moments of 2013

1. I started the year off with a cold and rainy Color Run with some of my best friends. Being in the cold and rain was NOT fun, but it sure makes for a memory that I’ll never forget! The Color Run Phoenix

2. We had a crazy amount of snow in February, which was fun to watch from my office. CNN even reached out to ask if they could use one of my Instagram photos!

3. In March, we had one of the best weekends ever when we drove up to Scottsdale for a hot air balloon ride and surfing at the Westin Kierland! Well, our balloon ride was cancelled due to wind, lightning, hail, and rain, but we made lots of lemonade by hitting up the Go Kart track, the trampoline place, and still surfing–outdoors–in 40 degree temperatures (the water was heated). We also caught a UofA vs. ASU basketball game on the way home.

4. Blissdom! In March, I attended what would end up being the very last Blissdom conference with some of my best friends:

Did you think you’d get away with just one picture here? No way.

I was able to meet two pretty amazing people at Blissdom. Scott Stratten, also known as @unmarketing was one. He made my day (and Kristi’s) by adding us to his slideshow for stalking chatting with him on twitter.

I also met Jon Acuff. At the time I had no idea what an impact he would make on the rest of my 2013.

5. Throughout 2013, our family has had a fun rivalry going between the two major Arizona college teams. I graduated from University of Arizona and Steve graduated from Arizona State. The best thing about having a family rivalry is that it keeps the boys excited about college!

6. Michael made two major trips in 2013–both without his parents! He went with his school to New York and Boston, and Facetimed with Jack from the top of the Empire State Building:

He also went to Las Vegas to visit his best friend. The best part? The roller coaster at Circus Circus:

7. In May, I rebranded Our Crazy Boys and launched My Crazy Good Life! What. a. ride! I feel like the blog is a perfect blend of everything I am and want to share with you. I can’t thank Nicole at The Pixel Boutique enough for my beautiful design.

8. I went to Disneyland! I was honored to be a guest of Disneyland and help them promote Mickey and the Magical Map. I was able to see my friend Amy from OCMentor and my friend Sara from Mom Endeavors and I were also there for the Monstrous Summer 24 hour park opening event! There was some serious fun to be had.

Sara gave her super tour of Disneyland–from someone who grew up going there. I was able to find some treasures for tweens in Disneyland and shared them in my post Disneyland Rides And Attractions For Tweens {That You Never Think About!}

9. I took Jack to the Big Time Rush backstage/front row concert and he had a BLAST! The guys in the band were awesome! Another reason why I love blogging is that I’m able to give my family fun experiences like this.

10. Jon Acuff reappeared in my life and changed my year with the START Experiment, based off his book START: Punch Fear in the Face, Escape Average and Do Work That Matters. Jon sent out a 24-hour call for people, added us all to a HUGE Facebook group, and the rest was history. I had 2,000 new best friends that encouraged me every day to get up at 5am and meet a goal. Because of the START Experiment, I began (and finished!) writing a book! If you want in on his next “experiment,” (and there will be one soon!) subscribe to his blog.

11. My boys rocked their sports. I loved being a football and soccer Mom, and can’t wait for the next seasons!

12. This was the year of the viral post. I had several posts that got some crazy traffic (7,000-10,000 views per day) and one that went crazy internet viral at almost hit 100,000 views in one day. I changed hosts, made money, lost money, pulled my hair out, cried to a customer service rep, and screamed with delight within a 24-hour period. You can read all about it here: What I Wish I Knew Before That Post Went Viral.

12. September marked 1 year since leaving my job as a speech therapist, starting my digital media consulting business, and working from home. It’s been a year of growing pains and I’ve learned so much. Also? I’d never trade this job for anything!

13. I crossed an item off of my bucket list and went to San Francisco! Ford invited me to drive down the Northern California coast in their C-Max Hybrid, visit the Monterey Bay aquarium, stay in Pebble Beach, and tour the city. I had an amazing time and can’t wait to bring my family back to see it all again with me!

From books to trips to viral posts, I’ve had an amazing year. I have many people to thank and you are one of them. If you’re reading this, thank you. Thank you for reading and supporting and encouraging everything I do. Here’s to an even better 2014!
